1What PaperBook is
PaperBook Sports (“PaperBook”, “we”) is a free prediction game. You pick real games at real prices with a paper bankroll and keep a record. It is a simulation: no real money is wagered, deposited, won, lost or paid out. By creating an account or using the site you agree to these terms and to the game rules. If you don't agree, don't use PaperBook.
2Paper money has no value
The bankroll, stakes, payouts and every other dollar figure in the game are paper money: game points with no cash value. Paper money cannot be bought, sold, transferred, gifted, exchanged, withdrawn or redeemed for anything, inside or outside the game. We never accept a deposit or make a payout. Nothing you do in the game creates a debt or a credit in real money.
3No prizes
There are no prizes, winnings, rewards or payouts of any kind, in cash or otherwise, for anything you do in the game: not for a season standing, a Hall of Fame place, an achievement, a mission, a level or a referral. Standings, badges, levels and titles are records of play and nothing more.
4You must be 21 or older
PaperBook is for adults aged 21 and over. When you sign up you confirm that you are at least 21, and we record that confirmation with a timestamp. If we learn that an account holder is under 21 we close the account. We may ask for proof of age at any time and close an account that doesn't provide it.
5The game rules can change
Each season runs on a numbered ruleset. We can change the rules for a future season, or in the middle of one when a game or feed problem makes it necessary, and we'll publish the change on the rules page. A ticket keeps the ruleset it was placed under; a rule change never alters a pick already made. We may also start, pause, shorten, freeze or end a season, and void or re-settle tickets, as the rules describe.
6Your account and handle
One person, one account. You may not share an account, hold more than one, or let anyone else use yours. Keep your sign-in method (your email inbox or Google account) secure; what happens through your account is your responsibility. Your handle is shown publicly on boards, profiles and anything you share. We may change or remove a handle that is offensive, misleading, impersonates someone, includes a trademark you don't own, or is otherwise inappropriate, at our sole judgement.
7Fair play and automation
Play by hand. You may not use scripts, bots, scrapers, automated tools or multiple accounts to place picks, exploit stale lines or settlement errors, or manipulate a board, a league or a referral. The only automated players on the site are the benchmark bots we run ourselves, which are always labelled as bots and never hold a rank or a Hall of Fame place. We may remove picks, results or a season, or close an account, for conduct that breaks these terms or the rules.
8Membership and billing
PaperBook is free to play. An optional paid membership may unlock the features described on the Membership page. Membership never changes your bankroll, stake limits, odds or results, and it never buys paper money. Payments are processed by Stripe, which is the merchant of record for your purchase; we never see or store your card details. Memberships renew automatically at the price shown when you subscribed until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the billing portal in Settings, and your membership then runs to the end of the period you've paid for. If you ask within 14 days of your first charge, we refund that charge in full; renewals are not refunded except where the law requires it. Prices and what membership includes can change for future billing periods, with notice before the change takes effect.
9Odds, scores and data
Lines, prices, schedules and scores come from third-party data feeds. They can be wrong, late, missing, or corrected after the fact, and we don't guarantee their accuracy or availability. When a feed error affects a ticket we may void it, re-settle it or correct the result, following the rules; corrections are recorded, never silently edited. A line on PaperBook is a game price, not an offer to bet with anyone.
10No affiliation
PaperBook is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any league, team, association, player, data provider or sportsbook. Team and league names appear only to identify the games being played. All trademarks belong to their owners.
11Your content
Your handle, profile, picks and anything you share through the site's share features are yours. You give us a licence to display them within the game, on public boards and profiles, and in the share cards and links you choose to create, and to keep them in your record. Don't post anything you don't have the right to post.
12Ending an account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings; this removes your login, tickets, record, achievements and public profile, and cancels any membership at the end of the paid period. We may suspend or close an account, with or without notice, for a breach of these terms or the rules, for suspected fraud or abuse, at a legal or payment provider's request, or if we shut the game down. Paper money and progress have no value and are not owed to you on closure.
13No warranty
PaperBook is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't promise the game will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any data, result or standing is correct.
14Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, PaperBook and the people who run it are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, standing or enjoyment, arising from the game. Our total liability for any claim relating to PaperBook is limited to the amount you paid us for membership in the twelve months before the claim, or $50 if you paid nothing. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
15Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of [State], United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules, and any dispute will be brought in the courts located there. If a part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
16Changes and contact
We may update these terms. When the change matters we'll show a notice in the app or email the address on your account; continuing to play after the change means you accept it. Questions go to the support address in Settings is being set up.
